Patriotism in Action

Welcome to America 250 St. Charles County! We are dedicated to promoting patriotism and pride in the rich tapestry of America. Through engaging projects for both children and adults, as well as honoring our veterans and celebrating our community, we aim to inspire knowledge and excitement. Join us as we share and celebrate the diverse stories that make up the American narrative, the unique contributions of all backgrounds, cultures, and communities.

Ideas for America250

  1. Creating an America 250 challenge coin” for the 250th celebration.  Use it as fundraising purchase or an award. Use as you see fit.  Then, when people travel throughout our great county or nation , since this is nationwide, they could give them to people they meet.  It would be great way to promote our area and celebrate our nation!

  2. Historical Speaker – Host a monthly talk on American history, focusing on local and national milestones. 

  3. Patriotic Art & Essay Contests – Engage schools and the community with themes like “What America Means to Me.” 

  4. Adopt-A-Veteran Program – Connect the community with local veterans for interviews and storytelling sessions. ( work with VFW’s and American Legions. 

  5. Community Service Challenge – Encourage  residents to complete a total of 250 acts of service before July 4th. We can somehow keep a tally and post it on social media and the city’s website.

  6. Flag Education & Display Program – Promote proper flag etiquette and encourage displays of the American flag everywhere! 

  7. “America 250” Time Capsule – Collect letters, artifacts, and predictions for the future to be opened in 2076. 

  8. American Music & Film Nights – Celebrate patriotic films and music from different eras. Big Celebration for July 4th 

  9. Massive Parade – Featuring military, first responders, historical reenactors, city leaders and local organizations.( maybe a Float contest.

  10. Living History Village( work with Historic society)– With actors portraying historical figures and showcasing different time periods walking around 

  11. Fireworks Extravaganza – The biggest in  history.

  12. Community Picnic & Cook-Off 

  13. Veterans & First Responders Tribute 

  14. Reading of the Declaration of Independence – In a public setting with community leaders or maybe have some kids read each one 

  15. National Anthem Sing-Along

  16. Scavenger hunt

  17. Posting posters of the Declaration of Independence and US Constitution

  18. Distributing copies of the Liberty Lives Forever pocket Constitution books

  19. Planting a Liberty Tree

  20. Obtaining and drinking Liberty Tea or make you own

  21. Walk, run, bike 250 miles

  22. 250 seconds to talk about something patriotic

  23. Create a new patriotic song with music and lyrics

  24. Create a video with a patriotic theme

  25. Interview  veterans and unsung heroes

  26. Create a play or musical with a patriotic theme

  27. Paint fire hydrants red, white, and blue

  28. Choir, band, or orchestra performing patriotic music

  29. Art contest with awards

  30. Passport of Patriotism – stamped at events
